I don’t know about you, but fall is my absolute favorite time of the year! So to celebrate all things autumn, let’s explore some engaging picture books you can use with students this fall!

Fall Picture Book: We're Going on a Leaf Hunt

We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt

We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt by Steve Metzger is a new spin on the classic We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. In this version, three kids are on a hunt to collect leaves of different colors and shapes. Just like with the original version, you can add fun motions as you read to engage young readers. You can also take your own leaf hunt around the school to find leaves for art projects or a science center.

The book Leif and the Fall by Allison Sweet Grant is similar to The Very Last Leaf as it features another leaf who is afraid to fall. But in this story, Leif is determined to find another way down from the tree. Leif and his friend Laurel work together to find a better way down. They try creating a net, a kite, and a parachute with the hope of softening his landing. Great way to discuss a problem-solving mindset with students!
