About Me
Hey everyone! My name is Melissa and I’m the face behind The Reading Roundup! Here’s a little more information about me!
Professional Me
I’m a Reading Specialist working in Northern Virginia. I’m originally from Hollidaysburg, PA and went to Penn State University. WE ARE! I taught 1st grade for 8 years before switching to my current position after earning my master’s degree from George Mason University. I became a National Board Certified Teacher, which was a very challenging but rewarding process.
I’m extremely passionate about helping students develop a love of reading and build confidence in themselves as readers. As a result, I’m focused on creating engaging and effective instructional activities. I admit to being a HUGE nerd who loves reading professional books to constantly improve my work. I also enjoy creating and sharing resources for other teachers like you to help make your literacy instruction more simple, effective, and engaging for your students!
